Credentials
of the IOMT
The Institute of Orthopaedic
Manual Therapy (IOMT), established in 1991, offers a part-time
fellowship program in the Norwegian Approach for the practicing
physical therapist who wants comprehensive training in orthopaedic
manual therapy without committing to a full-time educational
program. The Norwegian Approach emphasizes hands-on manual therapy,
medical exercise therapy techniques and patient education/self-management.
Located in Woburn,
Massachusetts, the IOMT is affiliated with Orthopaedics Plus,
which operates four physical therapy clinics in the Boston
area.
The IOMT is credentialed
by the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA) as a post-professional
clinical fellowship program for physical therapists in orthopaedic
manual physical therapy. In addition, it is one of only eleven
such programs in the US recognized by the American Academy
of Orthopaedic Manual Physical Therapists (AAOMPT). The IOMT
is affiliated with Boston University and Massachusetts General
Hospital.
